 The Forum Rules
Posted by ian - 22nd Mar 2004 - 08:51 PM - 0 comments
Welcome to the Mobile DJ Forums!

With every great community, there are the rules and laws that ensure people co-exist peacefully. These forums are no different. There are boundaries to what is and what is not allowed. These rules are in place to ensure the Mobile DJ Forums continue to be a friendly place where members can learn and share information on a variety of dj'ing and non-dj'ing topics.

The rules of the Mobile DJ Forums are as follows:

Spamming
Spamming is not tolerated. Full stop. Anyone found spamming will be banned without prior warning.

Advertising
Unlike some other forums such as or we actively promote advertising as long as it is kept in the Classifieds forum. Any advertising found outside this forum will either be deleted or moved to the correct forum by a moderator.

Flaming
Material that is knowingly defamatory, illegal, abusive, threatening or harassing is strictly prohibited. As with anything, you, as a member, should use good common sense when posting. In other words, you agree not to be a jerk. Posts containing personal attacks on another user will be edited or deleted with no warning or consent.

Right to Privacy
You will not violate a person's privacy by publishing information against another member’s will, information that is private and personal. If you violate this rule, your account may be automatically banned without prior warning.

Racism
Topics/posts containing such will be edited or deleted accordingly. If you violate this rule, your account may be automatically banned without prior warning.

Porn
Even though we're all mostly adults on here, we do have a few 'underage' members. Therefore, material that is sexually or otherwise obscene is not permitted on these forums. Topics/posts containing such will be deleted on sight. If you violate this rule, your account may be automatically banned without prior warning.

MP3's and Warez
Providing or asking for information on how to illegally obtain "mp3s", "warez" or any other software or work protected by copyright law is strictly forbidden. If you violate this rule, your account may be automatically banned without prior warning.

Signature Size
To keep the page loading time and visual annoyance factor down to a minimum, ensure your graphical signatures do not exceed a maximum of 12,500 pixels or 15 kilobytes file size, whichever is reached first. Alternatively, three lines of text can be used as a signature. Do not pad out your text lines with blanks lines. A line of text is defined such that it does not wrap when viewed at a resolution of 640x480.

If these limits are exceeded then you may be contacted by a moderator requesting an amendment to your signature. If none is made within a reasonable period of time, then a moderator may remove your signature from your profile.

What should I do if I see objectionable material on the forums?
It is important that members recognise the real-time nature of these forums; the moderators cannot always monitor the contents of posted messages. As such, we depend upon you to inform them when members are violating our rules. You must also recognise that they cannot respond immediately to such notices and that some time may pass before any warranted action is taken.

To contact a moderator use the Report this post to a moderator function on the post itself.

What happens if I break the rules?
At best your post will be edited by one of the moderators and you will be issued a warning. If the offence is more serious your post will be deleted. Posting "why was my post edited/deleted?" etc. will only make matters worse so please don't.

Should you have already been issued warnings and continue to break the rules, you will be issued a temporary ban - your posting privileges will be disabled for seven days, but you will still be able to view the forums as a guest.

For persistent and or deliberate rule-breakers your account will be "Banned". That means you are no longer welcome on these forums and your account will no longer function. If you re-register, your new account will be banned immediately and any new topics/posts will automatically be removed, regardless of their nature.

Suggestions
In the attempt to create a compromise where everyone is happy, the following suggestions are also recommended:
  • Use common sense. Anything that you say or do carries consequences with it. If you find yourself questioning the nature of what you’re going to post, then it’s probably not safe to post it. Save yourself trouble and ourselves time, think before you post.
  • Always be civil and courteous. This forum is visited by people from all over the world of different ages, genders, and races. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Also, see Flaming, Right to Privacy, and Racism.
  • Make sure that your message topics fit the topic description of the forum that you are posting in.
  • Use the search function before posting and reply to topics it finds.
  • Read the Important Topics at the top of each forum - they are there for a reason, and generally contain information relevant to the forum that they are in.
  • Don't quote the entire message that you're responding to, only the pertinent passage. This makes it easier to read for other users.
  • Only post pictures when absolutely necessary, and when they are directly relevant to the topic discussion. If the image you are posting is large in size (either pixel size, file size, or both), then please post a link to the picture instead of posting the picture itself. Remember that not everybody has the T3 connection that you are accustomed to, and may have to wait some time for images to load.
Terms of Service

Please remember that we are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of the owner of the Mobile DJ Forums. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use the Mobile DJ Forums to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, racist, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by The Mobile DJ Forums.

Notice regarding SPAM and the Mobile DJ Forums
Posted by ian - 12th Dec 2003 - 12:58 PM - 0 comments
Hi guys,

As you may have noticed, powerful new anti-spam laws were introduced in the UK on the 11th December, 2003. Such laws affect the Mobile DJ Forums by the fact that we store and use the email addresses you use when you sign up.

For your own information, we will never release your email address to ANY third party without, or even WITH your permission.

SPAM will never be sent from these forums by myself, however I cannot control email sent by other members of the forums to you without removing the PM and E-mail features of the forum software.

Due to the new legislation I have configured the forum software so that you will NOT receive any emails sent by the Administrators of the Mobile DJ Forums unless you wish to do so. You can check your settings by going to...

My Controls -> E-mail Settings and making sure that the box labelled "Send me any updates by the board Admin" is either ticked or empty depending on your preference.

If you decide to OPT-IN, you will also receive a newsletter every-so-often containing any special member deals I may wish to promote and other important information.

If you do decide to opt-in, PLEASE make sure that your email address is valid

Thanks for your time, and if you need any more information on the above, please do not hesitate to send me an email or private message.

Cheers

 Forum Upgrade...
Posted by ian - 19th Sep 2004 - 03:50 PM - 6 comments
Don't ask peeps

Needless to say it's all been upgraded and seems to be working fine. You may need to re-upload your avatar, etc.

As the powers that be have changed the design of the forum, if it all looks pretty odd, you may need to delete all your temporary internet files, etc. so that it loads the new format/images etc.

You will need to update your bookmarks also, as the new address direct to the forum is https://mobiledjforums.co.uk/forum. If you miss the '/forum' bit off the end you will get the main portal page.

If you notice any errors, as always, please let me know.

 Inappropriate Avatars

Please read this section of the Forum Rules:::

Ok, as some of you are already aware, there seems to be an upsurge in Adult, Blue, Soft Porn Avatars around the forum. It seems there is a small "My avatar is dirtier than yours" syndrome at the moment. As the rules state above MINORS (Under age) members use these forums. Also other members of people family also see what is on these forums from time to time, I myself left the forums earlier today when my 4 & 6 yr olds came and sat with me.. at that moment there were boobies being stroked on display....

I was going to edit them and Censor them all, but I will give you the chance to change them for more appropriate ones.....

Also I am not a dictator by any means, so I am open to discussion from all parties about this...

I have not had Ians word on this YET, but he DID write the Forum Rules..

I have no personal problem with content being "LINKED" to, but please make it clear what you are linking to... We don't want the net police to prevent us from using our nice friendly forums.

Please note: Techs Digestive problems do not come under Porn, so feel free to chat about his digestive tract. LOL

Are your Time Zone settings correct?
Posted by ian - 27th Apr 2004 - 04:31 PM - 1 comments
A lot of people have been sending me PM's saying that the times on the forums aren't right for the posts...

This is all down to that stupid farmers rule which came into effect recently, AKA "British Summer Time"!!!!

To fix it, go into My Controls, select Board Settings at the bottom and make sure that your time zone settings are correct and that you have Daylight Saving Time TICKED.

Problemo sorted'o

Happy surfing
