Why can a corporation not be represented in court by pro se?

A corporation cannot be represented in court by pro se (without a lawyer) because it is a separate legal entity from its owners and shareholders. Representation of a corporation in court must be done by an attorney, because a corporation is not considered to have the capacity to represent itself in court proceedings.
