Why can a corporation not be represented in court by pro se?

A corporation cannot be represented in court by pro se (without a lawyer) because it is a separate legal entity from its owners and shareholders. Representation of a corporation in court must be done by an attorney, because a corporation is not considered to have the capacity to represent itself in court proceedings. This is to ensure that all parties are given the same rights and protections in the court system.
